Bangladesh in Peril

There have been riots all around Bangladesh due to the fact that average wages are so low that people can afford a proper living conditions. They are being exploited by multinationals corporations (Called also MNC, companies who operate overseas) such as Carrefour, JC Penny´s, Gap, Wal-Mart among others. Their main purpose of the expansion of multinationals is to generate an extra profit by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) that is when MNC makes a founding in another country in order to gain a profit. And most of the times the amount of money invested is not that high,  which leads to internal problems within the country like low wages for the employee, bad labour conditions , late payment and  many other problems that lead to a poor living conditions for all the workers within the country, taking into account that this enterprises have the budget to afford better conditions, this happens not only in Bangladesh but in many emerging economies which purpose is to industrialize to reach a  worldwide status as highly developed countries as the US.

Riots In Bangladesh
This problem has been occurring in way for a long time, even during the 19th century like in the book “El paraiso en la otra Esquina” written by Mario Vargas Llosa and published in 2010, the novel tells the story of Flora Tristan a woman that travels all around France promoting her idea which she called “la union obrera” which purpose was to protect the basic rights of the working class because big corporations at that time started with the trend of exploiting their employees, all in order to get cheap labour force . She even referenced in the book the lack of knowledge and education this people had by saying “No sabian nada, carecían de curiosidad y estaban comformes con su vida animal” (Which translates to “They didn’t knew anything, lacked of curiosity and were happy with their animal life”) meaning that the working class lacked initiative and ideas for seeking respect and defending their rights. This trend of oppression of the labour force has passed from generation to generation and adapted in today´s globalized world, where the process of generating an independence between countries is a key factor, and even though policies in developed countries like France, have been made to avoid the exploitation of workers, Bangladesh and many other countries and multinationals don’t take into account this rules and take advantage of the necessities of the people of this area.

This problem involves not only the adults of Bangladesh but the children too. The living conditions of most of the children in the area are not best, with some suffering for not having access to basic needs, meanwhile others are forced to leave school and go to work to improve their standards of living. This is an unfortunate situation as this child go their face with a lifetime of 0 education, and at their jobs the salaries are non-existent or very low. This is a situation that needs an urgent solution because this is affecting the development of the country by interfering with the education of the children as well is making a crevasse in the society by impeding them creating vision for the welfare of Bangladesh.
